Fire at 5 Portland Place

An incident at Portland Place

On this occasion it was a fire started by children no names are recorded, there was only smoke damage to an empty property,which may be the reason no great effort was put into the investigation.

It is possible that the owner was the one who had been imprisoned
I have been informed that an earlier fire in Portland Place was one of 5 owned by a Mr H Smallbones. A person of that name was committed to prison serving 5 years for arson.
